چکیده
The problem of sandbar migration on the storm timescale is revisited with a 3D wave-resolving hydro-sedimentary model. latter presents an intermediate approach between expensive two-phase flow models and highly parametrized wave-averaged models. Innovative features include use weakly compressible assumptions in hydrodynamics morphological acceleration bed changes to speed up numerical simulations. model accurately simulates successive offshore onshore bar observed large-scale flume experiment response wave forcing representing post-storm (recovery) conditions. diagnosis sand transport analysis ensemble-averaged asymmetric cycle reveal mechanisms each phase. In all cases, sediment resuspension impacted by breaker-induced turbulence, while evolution are primarily result undertow distribution – seaward undercurrent across sandbar. There also significant contribution from wave-related fluxes, due greater mobilization currents during crest period.

Wave-induced sediment transport and sandbar migration.
Onshore sediment transport and sandbar migration are important to the morphological evolution of beaches but are not well understood. Here, a model that accounts for fluid accelerations in waves predicts the onshore sandbar migration observed on an ocean beach. In both the observations and the model, the location of the maximum acceleration-induced transport moves shoreward with the sandbar, re...
متن کاملSandbar Migration Due to Cross-Shore Sediment Transport; A Case Study of Noshahr Coasts, Iran
Cross-shore sediment transport is one of the effective factors in erosion and sedimentation, and affects dynamics of the beach profile in coastal areas. Furthermore, sandbar migration due to cross-shore sediment transport mostly effects beach nourishment, displacement of pollutions trapped in sediments, and organism and plants’ lives. In this manuscript, sandbar migration due to cro...
متن کامل3D wave-equation interferometric migration of VSP multiples
For VSP data, interferometric migration of free-surface multiples has two significant advantages over standard VSP migration: 1). a significantly larger imaging area than that of conventional migration of VSP primaries, and 2). less sensitivity to velocity and static errors than conventional migration of VSP multiples. In this report we validate these claims by applying wave-equation interferom...
متن کاملCharacterization of an SRF gun: A 3D full wave simulation
We characterized a BNL 1.3GHz halfcell SRF gun is tested for GaAs photocathode. The gun already was simulated several years ago via twodimensional (2D) numerical codes (i.e., Superfish and Parmela) with and without the beam. In this paper, we discuss our investigation of its characteristics using a three dimensional (3D) full-wave code (CST STUDIO SUITETM).The input/pickup couplers are sited sy...
متن کاملSimulation of Wave-Current Interaction Using Novel, Coupled Non-Phase and Phase Resolving Wave and Current Models
The long term goals of this project are to be able to predict nearshore waves, currents, and sediment transport accurately from >20m water depth through to the shoreline. We would like to accomplish this over as large an area as possible; on the order of tens of km, and to resolve all individual waves. Time periods simulated would be of order hours to days at maximum. We would also like to be a...
